Corazón Cosido test prints
I tried out the concept for the Corazón Cosido artworks with the three test prints below. Like the final format, they are also printed with pigment on archival cotton paper which I shot with a bow and arrows and then mended with thread made with real gold wrapped around silk thread. At 14" x 11", these test prints are larger in size than the final 11" x 11" prints.
Test prints help artists determine various elements that make up an artwork. For these works, I wanted to see how a grouping would look together and if the hearts were compelling in this larger than life size (but not too small that I would miss them with the arrows!). I also needed to test how the actual sewing would work with the delicate gold thread. One adjustment I made was to make the holes with a larger needle before pulling the thread through.
